Bloomsburg Women's Basketball Loses to Fairmont State

BLOOMSBURG- Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/ Wyoming Valley West) scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds but the Bloomsburg women's basketball team fell to #20 Fairmont State 62-49 on Saturday night.

The Huskies started off strong, taking a 13-8 lead when Kirby Johnson (Woodstown, NJ/ Glocuster CC) drained a three-pointer with 13:08 remaining in the first half. However, Fairmont State closed the half with a 14-2 run and took a 31-20 lead into halftime.

The Fighting Falcons never relinquished the lead in the second half due in part to point guard Jenna Eckleberry whose 11 assists helped set up Fairmont State with several easy scoring opportunities. Ashley Reed and Danielle Cornish each had 18 points to lead the Fighting Falcons in scoring. Sidney Thomas registered a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/ Lewistown) contributed 10 points and eight rebounds while Laura Lyons (Hatfield/ Pennridge) finished with eight points.

Bloomsburg falls to 2-4 on the year while Fairmont State improves to 6-1. The Huskies will travel to Edinboro on December 20th at 5:30 p.m.
